I'd like to begin by welcoming you to my blog! My name is Tiffany and I am a self-taught seamstress. I am 5'11 inches tall which people classify as pretty tall, hence the name PrettyTallSewNSew. I gained interest in sewing at a very early age. My dad would buy me little sewing machines that sewed yarn through paper. I'd also take old clothing and cut them into doll clothes using staples as my stitches. I didn't pick up this interest again until around Christmas 2013 when my husband purchased a $50 sewing machine that I had been stalking on Walmart's website.
I was slightly intimidated by the machine at first so I did not take it out of the box until January 2014. I watched the dvd that came with it and learned to thread the needle and how to fill the bobbins. After that my sewing journey began! It is one of the most rewarding hobbies that I've ever had. The pay off is that I get to wear things that I could never find in a department store. As a tall girl, I could never find a jumpsuit or a maxi dress that touched the ground. Some of the sleeves on tops and sweaters never covered my wrists. Some shirts were too short, never passing my belly button. I stayed away from it all. Now, if I want it, I make it. It's a beautiful feeling!
I am always learning new things with sewing. Although it's been almost 3 years, I have so much more to learn and improve on. I will be posting my creations (past & present), sewing ideas, inspirations, Outfit of the Day, tall friendly finds, and anything else that may cross my mind from time to time.
Please feel free to leave comments or make suggestions for things you'd like to see here in the future. I look forward to your comments. Let's Sew!
